Greetings of Peace from Batangas!
The eruption of Taal Volcano in the province of Batangas that started on Sunday, 12 January 2020 has heavily affected the properties, livelihood, and living conditions of the residents within the 14-kilometer radius of the volcano. They were evacuated in different evacuation centers and since the status of the eruption is still in Alert Level 4, ashfall and earthquakes are still happening. Thus, they cannot go back to their normal way of living yet. The evacuees are fully reliant on relief goods from the national government and aid from different organizations and individuals. But due to so many evacuees which are more than 40,000 already, the relief goods and help are still not enough for their daily needs.
Our therapy center and school, Kaleidoscope Therapy and Learning Center (KTLC) is located in Lemery, Batangas which is one of the danger zones declared to have a full evacuation of residents. Unfortunately, our students and staff were also badly affected by this disaster.
We are writing to you to ask for donations by providing funds or relief goods. Our fundraising is specifically for giving aid to children with exceptionalities and their families affected by the Taal Volcano eruption, especially those from KTLC. Children with special needs have added challenges during an emergency compared to typically developing children. Some atypical kids may have difficulty communicating, moving from one place to another, adjusting to different and unfamiliar situations, and cannot cope well with overwhelming sensory information, etc.
Some of the proceeds will also be shared to KTLC’s staff who are also victims and evacuees themselves.
Should you desire to donate, the funds will provide for the following:
- N95/surgical masks
- Food
- Water
- Sleeping mats, pillows, blankets, mosquito nets
- First aid supplies & medicines
- Toiletries & Basic hygiene kits
