Special Education Teachers

Teacher Dem is a dedicated Special Education Teacher and the Managing Director at Kaleidoscope Therapy and Learning Center Corp, where she has contributed her skills and knowledge for almost 4 years. In her role, she also teaches Life Skills, striving to equip her students with practical abilities essential for their growth and independence. Teacher Dem completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Adamson University in Ermita, Manila, from 1997 to 2001, laying a solid foundation in understanding human behavior and development. She further advanced her expertise by pursuing a Master of Arts in Education Major in Special Education at the prestigious University of the Philippines from 2003 to 2006. This academic journey has enriched her teaching methods and deepened her commitment to her students. As one of the key KTLC teachers, she has a significant role in supervising our children with exceptional needs in our Livelihood Program, ensuring they receive the support and encouragement necessary to thrive in various life situations. Through her dedication and passion, she continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of her students and their families.

Myla U. Sarmiento, LPT, CDPP

She has worked at Kaleidoscope Therapy and Learning Center since June 2017. She was the head of the Inclusive Preschool Program from SY 2018 to 2021. She is a Licensed Professional Teacher and a Certified Developmental Play Practitioner (CDPP). Together with the KTLC school principal, she presented the preliminary Developmental Play research findings during the 1st International Developmental Play Conference on April 26, 2019. Upgrading her knowledge and skills through research and continuous professional development are two keys that make her more equipped to face the daily challenges in school and help every student reach their fullest potential in life. Currently, she is involved with Developmental Play research and Lego Six Bricks at KTLC. She earned her Bachelor of Elementary Education majoring in Special Education at Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa. Myla is currently pursuing her Master’s in Special Education.

Teacher Mel is a Licensed Professional Teacher in the Philippines and a Certified Developmental Play Practitioner (CDPP). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Special Education from the Adventist University of the Philippines and has been with Kaleidoscope Therapy and Learning Center since 2019. She was the Department Head of the Early Intervention Program (EIP) from SY 2022–2025 and currently works as a Special Education Teacher, offering one-on-one tutorials and leading enrichment programs like Handcrafted Arts and Music. With over seven years of teaching experience, she specializes in supporting children with special needs through personalized instruction and creative activities that incorporate art, music, and play. Her dedication to inclusive education is clear in her ability to create learning experiences that accommodate various learning styles.

Beyond her professional skills, Teacher Mel values empathy, strong connections, and meaningful communication as foundations for building long lasting relationships with her students and their families. She is also a dedicated advocate for children’s and families’ mental health, ensuring that every child not only learns but also thrives in a supportive environment.
